Success at SOCO
Key Characteristics
Characteristics of Success
A person who finds success and an incredible fit with our culture and team will be:
Attentive, Proactive, and Detail-Oriented: We’re looking for people who are both attentive and proactive, with a knack for spotting the small details that make a big difference and the drive to go above and beyond. Success here is doing 1,000 small things well—anticipating needs before they arise and taking the initiative to improve every experience.
Whether it’s adjusting chairs, refilling coffee creamer, or fixing tech issues before anyone notices, our team goes the extra mile without being asked. If you spot a challenge, you don’t wait—you tackle it head-on. You take pride in making things better, growing personally, and helping the team grow. Your attention to detail and proactive mindset ensures that everything runs smoothly, and our spaces are always thoughtful and inviting.
Organized, Efficient, Adaptable and Flexible: We thrive in an environment where we move fluidly between tasks and activities. We can handle multiple responsibilities without missing a beat and know how to stay calm under pressure. Time management is our strength—we prioritize what matters and balance everything with precision, always making sure nothing slips through the cracks. We’re solution-focused and adapt quickly to keep things running smoothly, always looking for practical ways to improve.
Leaders & Owners: At SOCO, we take ownership of our work, projects, and teams. When something comes our way, we step up and drive it forward with determination and focus. We take responsibility not just for our own tasks but also for ensuring the team is aligned and accountable for our collective success. Leadership is about supporting each other and owning our impact.
People and Relationship Focused: We’re in the people business, and taking care of others is in our DNA. We are kind, approachable, and communicative—always ready to welcome others with warmth and empathy. We lead by example, creating connections and fostering strong relationships. Whether it’s through casual conversations, organizing events, or making introductions, we actively bring people together to build a thriving, community-centered environment. Relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
Service-Oriented: We seek to serve and help others. It gives us purpose. Doing things that people ask you to do is great. Figuring out what people need and finding ways to help them is even better. Ask for help. Offer help. Be a resource for your team and our customers.
We don’t just do what’s asked—we anticipate needs and find ways to support others. Our team thrives on collaboration, always willing to lend a hand, share knowledge, and step up when needed. With a positive, can-do attitude, we take on all tasks, big or small, and do whatever it takes to ensure success, even when the work isn’t glamorous.
Authentic and Confident. Whether you’re a book worm or a sales guru, people that thrive on our team are comfortable in their own skin, self-aware (of their strengths and weaknesses) and above all else, true to themselves. Our uniqueness is what makes our mission. People can tell when you’re being authentic and it builds trust in you and in our team.
Non – Negotiables
It’s hard working with other people and everyone has different values. But, we have a few non-negotiable values or characteristics that are really (like really) important to us. Our team members are expected to be:
- Communicative: It’s absolutely essential that you have the capacity to communicate effectively, but understand that communication and clarity are kindness. Late for a meeting? Let someone know. Need help with an issue? Once you’ve tried to tackle it on your own, reach out for help. Delegating a task? Make sure the recipient is 100% clear on what they need to do to succeed. Communication and clarity creates confidence. Confidence helps us achieve incredible things together.
- Resourceful: We’re looking for people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and “figure it out”. A large part of our work is finding problems and creating solutions that work well for our team and our members. There will be plenty of times when you are unsure of how to approach a task or project – our team must have an “I can figure it out” attitude.
- Committed: We’re looking for people that view this “job” as more than that. We try to cultivate a place where you can feel supported, nurtured and empowered. We’re a pretty special team and don’t have room for people that are just punching the clock. We serve a higher purpose and you need to be on board with that. The right person understands the difference between a “job” and a “mission”.
- Reliable: It is of the utmost importance that if you’re going to be on this team that we can trust and rely on you. We can’t succeed without trust in one another. To that end, we show up on time, we do the work we are signed up for (or volunteer for) and we do what we say we are going to do. Every time. If you’re a part of this team, that means someone else can rely on you for something important. It’s fundamental.
- Integrity: If you say you’re going to do something, you do it. It’s a bond and a commitment. Not just a thing that you look at casually. We need people that, when assigned a task or asked for help, set up and get it done well.
Our people are honest and transparent, we can trust them to do the right thing and when they make a mistake, they bring it to the team and make things right, never shying away from accountability. We treat everyone with respect.
